Hey Pals of Team Merrell/Akali! Denise Mchale rocked it at the 100k World Championships (8th place out of 50+ of the worlds best female ultrarunners–invite only) AND in the process became the first Canadian to run 100k in under 8 hours (7:56, baby!!!). HOLY COW this kid is fast. And she is the nicest, sweetest, person you’ll ever want to meet. I’m so proud and honored to have her o our team!!! And in other exciting news, our Akali Project Athena Racing Series 15k God/Goddess Run, 6k Athena Team Trek, and Kidz Challenge is tomorrow morning in Virginia Beach! Last minute prep going on at full speed at Project Athena intergalactic race HQ as we speak. We have 410 racers officially registered at this point and expect to have over 500 participants at the start lines when race day registration closes. Woo hoo! Awesome day for our local Athena, Sara Jones, for whom we’re raising money to help her in her 3rd battle with cancer, as well as our upcoming Athenas whom we will help to live their athletic dreams with the funds we raise tomorrow. We also have 8 local Survivors who are coming out to do the 6k hike with their friends and family to enjoy that Project Athena Circle of Light!
